The Dubai Bar – TikTok Made It Famous. We Made It Better.

18 July 2025/in Edinburgh Chocolatier, How we make chocolate, Latest news

Sitting in pride of place on our counter in the store is the infamous “Dubai Bar”. Customers ask me all the time “What is this Dubai Bar” and the truth is that it is a virial sensation. It all started in 2021 when a Sarah Hamouda’s pregnancy craving turned into a chocolate bar, and then turned into a business. A few years later in 2023 an ASMR style TikTok blew up and turned this humble chocolate bar into an internet sensation.

As we know, this chocolate bar was a hot commodity in 2023, literally no one could get their hands on this bar, therefore, consumers decided to make their own. That’s where we come in…

After request after request for us to recreate this viral chocolate bar, we recreated it – in our own O Chocolates way. Using our signature 54% Chocolate as the base, we used Kadafi, Pistachio Cream and Tahini to create the filling. What makes ours unique is the colouring of the Bar, a vibrant green ombre fading into the brown encasing this chocolate. This colouring makes our bars perfectly shiny and eyecatching. Not to toot our own horn, but many customers who have tried multiple versions of the “Dubai Bar” have said that because we use a 54% dark chocolate as our chocolate, it makes the bar much less sweet than its counterparts, which gives the consumer a much better chocolate experience.

Over the last few months however, we have been in the kitchen playing around with new ideas and we were asked to create a Scottish version of the “Dubai Bar”. So we did as requested and have made what we have dubbed “The Better than “Dubai Bar “”. This bar comes in two variations – a luxurious Carmelised White Chocolate or the Signature 54% Chocolate, but the filling inside is the same. The filling consists of pistachio cream and crunchy candied pistachios, this is simple and effective and makes this version of the Dubai Bar gluten free, which is a win for all of you out there who can’t have the “Dubai Bar” because of the pastry filling.

We hope this has helped you get a better understanding of the viral moment that the Dubai Bar and Pistachio’s – the hero ingredient are having. We look forward to seeing you down at the shop soon.
